While reading different articles on the net i used to see frequently that, there were articles blaming Windows Vista. Microsoft Chairman mostly talking blaming vista, it’s not right talking badly about their own product. They want to promote Windows 7, it’s been such a successful product and millions of licenses has been sold world wide in record number of days.
It’s not every day that you hear the CEO of a major corporation admit that they wasted time on a product.
But Steve Ballmer did just that when talking about Windows Vista. Ballmer stated that “We tried too big a task and in the process wound up losing thousands of man hours of innovation,” according to Thinq.co.uk. All of those man hours resulted in a 5 year wait for the follow up to the rock solid platform that is still widely used today, Windows XP.
While Vista itself was not a bad product, it was plagued with delays and because of these delays consumers were expecting a product with the stability of Windows XP. The immediate bad press that followed the launch of Vista was debilitating to the long term success of the product. Also, Apple launched a successful “Mac VS PC” advertisement campaign and publicly called out all of the flaws with Vista. Couple this with an Intel/Microsoft “Vista Capable” campaign that assured consumers that certain PCs were ready for the new OS when, in fact, they were not, because of pressure from Intel, and you have the breeding ground for a product failure.
Windows 7 made good on Microsoft’s line of operating systems and is being widely adopted worldwide. But Ballmer’s recognition that they wasted time on Vista by taking on a task to big is one of the few times you will hear the CEO discredit Windows Vista.
Windows Vista is one of the best OS microsoft has ever released for sure. If Vista wasn’t there we will never know, we would blame Windows 7, for it’s flaws..Okay so many people are having compatibility issues with the Windows Vista operating system. This operating system is truly not that bad though. Many manufactures of software programs and hardware programs are now offering a patch to fix the compatibility issues. Not only the maker of the operating system is to blame for this. The makers of hardware and software programs are also in part to blame, because they are suppose to keep up with today’s market. If you are skeptic about using Windows Vista due to compatibility issues then just do an online search for the software and hardware programs you are using now and search for patches. Once you have found out many patches already exist then rest assure Windows Vista is a pleasant operating system.Vista RTM has few flaws. Which was eventually fixed in Service Pack-1 and Service Pack-2.As a regular user of Windows Vista, i felt windows vista is more stable now after the Service Pack-2. It’s true that Windows 7 is better. But i love windows vista too, since it provided a nice UI effects after the Windows XP.I Love Windows Vista – Sp2, which is my main stream OS. it’s really awsome and stable, memory usage or wastage also mostly been reduced. Even though i don’t bother about RAM, since i have a hell lot of RAM on my PC, it’s for using right. Let vista use it.It’s funny that CEO of such a big company, blaming it’s own product and product engineering and time wasted on innovating it.Wake up Steve?, Did n’t microsoft developed any other OS in past other than Windows Vista ? , So when you guyz released Windows-XP, did you started blaming Windows ME or Windows 2000? .This my opinion, my own — Thanks Steve, Nithin Mohan T K
