On July 13th, 2010, Windows XP SP2 and Windows 2000 client and server will cease to receive support from Microsoft.

These aging operating systems will no longer receive updates, patches, service packs, and possibly many software applications. The Windows Team Blog is advising end-users to upgrade to Windows XP SP3 for further support. However, one of the best roads may be to upgrade to Windows 7.

There is an enormous support base for upgrading and transferring your old stuff to your new Windows operating system. As resourceful as Microsoft is, they have rounded up many guides for migrating to your new environment.
